June is a hectic month what with the start of the showing season and grass silaging in full swing but unfortunately the weather hasn't always been so kind to us in the eastern region. The second day of the Suffolk Show was cancelled which left the interbreed classes being judged in a cleaned out cattle building. Congratulations to the Strachan family for taking the Champion spot with their Holstein and to the Burroughs family for being Reserve Champion with their Brown Swiss.  The weather also led  to the cancellation of our HYB calf show to qualify for the All Breeds All Britain Calf Show in October, so plans are in full swing to hold our own event on Sunday 12th August 2012 at Norwich cattle market. Please contact Margaret Vale for more details.

Our annual stockjudging night was held at the 2011 Champion Suffolk herd 'Reydon' on 15th June where over 60 members took part and a further 20 members observed while master judge, Peter Rout of the 'Tibbenham' herd put three excellent classes through their paces. The senior winner of the night was Graham Vale and Luke Harris won the HYB section. Many thanks to all who attended and especially to Jim Ryan and the team at 'Reydon' for bringing out some superb cattle to judge.

Our HYB members continue to shine and their success at the Weekend Rally had certainly been a talking point for all concerned. well done to all - Suffolk Holstein Club are very proud of all of your efforts!
