Results from our Annual Calf Show held in conjunction with the Royal Manx Agricultural Show on the 10^th & 11^th. August.  I know that the summer has been absolute rubbish but the 2 days of the show were absolutely wonderful,l Friday being really hot and Saturday had a really strong breeze blowing but still very sunny.

The Judge was Mark Wilson from Hailstone Holsteins, Appleby, Cumbria. He was accompanied by his wife Diane and family Jack and Torie. Jack was especially helpful as he was taking the results from the calf show and the Light Horse rings to the announcer’s bus.

Presentations of the Trophies were made throughout the day by Deemster David Doyle and Mrs Barbara Doyle, Jimmy Hull, President of Holstein UK and Mr Roy Kermeen. The club also had the pleasure of John Edge, Chairman of Holstein UK, and Simon Gee of Journal fame.

As ever the club is indebted to Ann Skillen for being judge’s steward,  Ray Craine for doing the work on the microphone and  Roy Kermeen for being the line steward and getting them into the ring in order.

Saturday of the show there was something totally new for the Black and White breed when the champion calf won the Junior Champion and then when it came to the Deemster Johnson Supreme Award, the calf was the 2^nd reserve to  the Hereford bull and the Limousin bull; this has never been achieved before and the Champion calf has been included in this award since the year2000.

A really great way to finish the show.
