The annual stockjudging was held on Saturday 10 May at West End Town Farm, Marshfield, Chippenham, by kind invitation of the Miflin family. We were quite lucky with the weather although there were a few showers with sun and wind interspersed. There was a good turnout of 50 Club members young and not so young which was a good number considering there were several other events on that weekend which some young members were attending. Jeff Daw, chairman, introduced the master judge, Steve Hart who brought along daughter Kathryn for her expertise!
Two classes were brought out for judging, cows in-milk and heifers in-milk, luckily in a covered building, which certainly gave everyone a difficult task of putting them in the correct order as several were so evenly matched.
Jeff thanked Steve and Kathryn for giving their time and experience and also the Miflin family for inviting the Club and putting on an excellent show of animals. Tokens of appreciation were presented to all concerned.
Pauline Hann and Elizabeth Walker were also thanked for being the scorers.
The morning concluded with a buffet lunch prepared by HYB and helpers and a raffle in aid of HYB.
