Yorkshire News

Our Judging nights this year have consisted of going to the Bellerby’s at Nothallerton with North East and used that night as a practice night. We held our linear night at Mr & Mrs E Fort’s, Silsden Moor as the qualifier for national. Big thanks must go to Phillip Oliver, the Holstein UK Classifier, who came at short notice to go through how to do linear and act as our judge. The results from the night were as follows:

Juniors
1, Natasha Jennings
2, William Jennings

Intermediates
1, Rosie Throup
2, Ben Coates
3, Stuart Jennings

Seniors
1, Georgina Fort
2, Sammy Sugden
3, Sally Howarth

Our only qualifying judging day was held jointly with Lancashire at David Halls at Coniston. Another great turnout was seen from our members. The results were as follows:

Juniors
1, Joe Beecroft
2, Megan Beecroft
3, William Jennings

Intermediates
1, Jenny Hardcastle
2, Ben Coates
3, Stuart Jennings

Seniors
1, Georgina Fort
2, Fran Griffiths

At national finals this year we sent an all-girl team. Jenny Hardcastle took most of the trophy’s home with her winning intermediate stock judging and linear as well as winning best set of reasons. Jenny also came third in the intermediate linear team with Rosie Throup. Georgina Fort also came fourth in the senior stock judging.

The following week the Club held the Six Out of 30 night, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Roger Hildreth’s at York. It was well attended by Yorkshire and North East members. Tom Aryton won the HYB section and Andrew Jennings won the sweep section.

Our herd competition has taken place with Mark Cornthwaite doing the honours and being our master judge. Full results will be presented at our annual dinner which takes place Friday 31 October, at The Bridge, Wetherby.
