Our fist evening was a joint occasion with Derbyshire Club, held at Andrew and Roy Dutton’s (Royan) on May 8. The weather just managed to stay fine after a very wet day. Richard Pilkington acted as Master Judge (Aintree) and Andrew Spicer from Holstein UK judged the Linear competition. It was very well attended and many thanks go to the Dutton family for hosting this event and providing refreshments

On May 22 we met at the Marshall’s farm (Overseal) where again the weather held fine. Master judge was Owain Harries from Cogent. Prior to the actual judging, Owain demonstrated to the younger members the points he was looking for, using two cows for comparisons, in a clear and concise way. Also, he gave them hints on terms and descriptions to use while giving reasons, which was very favourably received by all members. As in previous visits to the Overseal herd, it was well attended and the supper was outstanding.
