The Club's AGM was held in April and two valuable officials retired after dedicating over thirty years of service between them. Mr & Mrs Edward Perkins stood down as Treasurer and Secretary and as a token of appreciation, Mrs Miranda Bowen presented them with an original painting on behalf of the Club. Thank you both for all your hard work. The following members were elected as the new officials: President – Mr Robert Maskell (Cwmgest) Chairman – Mr Nev Roberts (Dulais), Vice Chairman – Mr Richard Thomas (Churchvale), Secretary – Mr Huw Evans, Treasurer – Miss Nicola Evans (Nicel). Good luck to you all in your new roles!

Club Show and Sale – Thirty heifers forward in this month’s Club sale sold for an average of £2,072. Judged by Geraint Thomas (Gwynnog Holsteins), the Deri herd continued their run of topping the awards with both the Champion and Reserve Champion. Deri Mono Shottle Puck (pictured) was Champion and later sold for £3,400 to the judge. The Reserve Champion was Deri Goldstar Trui and went to Mr Bevan, Pendine for £2,750. Competition for the Deri consignment was strong and Mr. Bevan took home a further two heifers with Deri Goldstar Silvia at £2,650 and Deri Dazzle 54 at £2,750. Three also went to Lloyd Thomas’s Plas herd, the pick of them being Deri Betty 8 sired by Woodmarsh Topshot at £2,900. Others to cross two thousand were the Cathen herd with a heifer at £2,120, a Rhydonwil heifer made £2,100 and a Troedrhiw heifer consigned by R. Lewis, Fronun also sold for £2,000.

Two very successful nights of stockjudging were held at the Carwyn herd with Messrs Griffiths Penlan and also with Rob and Miranda Bowen at the Lan herd. There was a very good turnout to both nights with great cattle seen. Thank you to all who helped organise these evenings and to the both families for having us!
