East Midlands

The East Midlands Club have had a few busy and successful months over the summer.

The three stock judging nights were well attended by members and non members of the Club. Thank you to hosts James Knight and family, Walton Farms, Alan, Helen and Tom Smith, Bumblebee Holsteins and Beck and Simon Kirk. Also a special thank you to Graham Kirkby for being master judge.

Our HYB members have been extremely busy with their hard work paying off at the National Stock Judging Day at Aintree Holsteins. The Club are very proud of Evie Tomlinson for coming third junior, Simon Kirk for second senior stock judging and Becky Kirk for coming second in the senior linear assessment. Adding to their celebrations Becky Kirk and Sally Robinson came first senior linear team and the icing on the cake was the club coming first overall.

Thank you to herd’s competition judge Iwan Morgan although the results are still top secret. Andrew Birkle, Winchat, is the proud winner of the regional competition so fingers crossed for him in the next round.

East Midlands Club Members took champion and reserve at both Lincoln and Ashby Shows but the biggest achievement has to be at the Livestock Event, NEC. Congratulations to Nick and Louisa Sercombe with their Holstein champion and reserve interbreed champion Neatishall Decker Rosina.

Looking back over the last couple of months has shown some promising and exciting times for the East Midlands Club – looking forward:

The Calf Show will be held on the 7th September 2014 with David Jones, Wiltor kindly judging. Our Annual Dinner will be held in October 2014 with the added event of an Auction of Promises.

Congratulations to Christian Sheppard and Becky Pacey on the newest member of the club – Edward born on 17.05.14 and already attending his first shows although not quite ready to help with clipping, washing and leading!

Finally we would like to Becky Kirk who has taken on a role with Holstein UK and will no doubt be seen by a lot of you at up and coming events around the country and beyond! Good Luck Becky.
