South & Wiltshire AGM & Dinner Report

 
 
John Stratton, Club president welcomed 47 members to the Avebury Club for Holstein South and Wiltshire’s AGM. 
A report of Club activities over the past year was given by Jeff Daw, which included a visit to the Royal Farms Jersey herd at Windsor, an afternoon at the races, stock judging by kind invitation of the Miflin familt at West End Town Farm and the herd competition presentation evening held at Little Langford Darm by kind permission of Nick and Topsy Helyer. 

The calf show was a popular event held at Newbury and judged by Dawn Coryn. Then in the autumn the Club went to Mike and Rosemary Windell’s Ayrshire herd for a farm visit, with the final event a quiz organized by Catherine Elmes. 

Caroline Huins gave a report on the HYB activity during the year and the fund raising for the 2015 HYB Rally, while Richard Francis organised and judged the Winter Herd competition in February. 

The Club also enjoyed a successful annual dinner dance with 68 members enjoying a traditional roast followed by a raffle in aid of the HYB rally which the Club is hosting this year and a disco rounded off the evening. Society president Randolph Miller and his wife were welcomed on the evening and Randolph proposed The Loyal Toast.
