Lanarkshire Holstein Club Annual Herds Competition

The club held the Herd Competition on Tuesday 30th June, where 7 herds took part. All herds received prize(s). Our judge was Mr Steven Roan from Borland of Covington, who was accompanied by his wife Tracy on the day.

Results were as follows – 
Group of 5 Heifers (in milk) – 
1st and winning the Semen World Trophy were Messrs J & D Brewster, Boclair Farm, Bearsden (Boclair Herd);
2nd Laird Farming Company, Blyth Farm, Blyth Bridge (Blythbridge Herd);
3rd Messrs John Bryson & Son, Dykehead Farm, Lesmahagow (Carnduff Herd).

Team of 10 Cows – 
1st and wining the L. S. Smellie & Sons Ltd Rosebowl were Messrs Brewster, Boclair;
2nd Laird Farming Company, Blyth;
3rd Mr J Boyd, Dechmont Farm, Cambuslang (Letterickhills Herd).

Best Heifer Bred – 
1st and winning the Dalserf Cup were Messrs Brewster, Boclair with Boclair Sid Hope;
2nd Laird Farming Company, Blyth with Blythbridge Elitist Susan;
3rd Messrs J & W Baillie, Hillhead of Covington Farm, Thankteron (Covington Herd) with Covington Goldenboy Clarissa.

Best Individual Cow – 
1st and winning the Scotfarm Cup were Laird Farming Company, Blyth with Blythbridge Goldwyn Rosalee;
2nd Messrs Brewster, Boclair with Boclair Goldwyn Elegance;
3rd Messrs James D Baillie, Crumhaugh Farm, Stonehouse (Dalserf Herd) with Overclyde Ross Sonya.

Family Group – 
1st and winning the Hunter Shield were Messrs Brewster, Boclair with the HOPE family;
2nd Messrs Baillie, Hillhead of Covington with the BUTTERMAID family;
3rd Messrs TC Yuill & Son, West Newton Farm, Strathaven (Netherside Herd) with the GAIL family.

Cow Producing 50tonne – 
1st and winning the Tom Neilson Salver were Messrs Baillie, Crumhaugh with Dalserf Corneliske 358;
2nd Laird Farming Company with Blythbridge Titanic Grace;
3rd Mr J Boyd, Dechmont with Dalesend Sam Rosina.
