Yorkshire Holstein Club News

The club has recently held its Annual General Meeting at Hampsthwaite near Harrogate. Chris Hardcastle was elected as President for a second year, Roger Hildreth elected as Chairman. Andrew Ayrton remains as Treasurer and Rachel Coates as Secretary. Following the meeting, members were in for a real treat, as Jennifer Hardcastle gave a presentation on her recent trip to Africa. It was an enthralling and at times very moving talk about farming and other aspects of life in Kenya. Jennifer went to Kenya on her placement year from Harper Adams University. She was working as part of the technical team of Vital Animal Health, a Kenyan company specialising in mineral supplements for ruminant livestock. During her time there, as well as seeing many different types of farming, Jennifer went on safari, trekked to see gorillas and helped in a Nairobi orphanage. The Club President congratulated HYB member Lydia Griffiths, as following on from her Little Star success she had been selected to attend the World Holstein Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, along with three other youth representatives from the UK. The club has a full program of events planned over the summer if you would like more information about Yorkshire Holstein Club, please contact the Secretary Rachel Coates on 07821 620725
