Lancashire - Annual Treasure Tramp.

Once again there were almost 200 of us that took part in our very popular annual treasure tramp, this year on Friday 1st July , kindly hosted by Mr. & Mrs. F.Riding and family deep in the heart of the Lancashire countryside at Goosnargh, Nr Preston.

A lovely night it was not, with the unseasonal  rain and hail, but a good hot pie supper welcomed all those who stayed the course to the end with prizes awarded to the best adult and children’s teams. There are some very imaginative names for some of these teams!

The evening had a very sad theme though with the passing that day of our much loved Young Member Louise Hartley. Our President Mr David Booth said some beautiful words and we bowed our heads in silence in her memory. She will be much missed.

Our Younger Members continue to impress with their enthusiasm and talents. I believe this is the 3rd time in succession they have been the Best Team at The Competitions Day with particular Congratulations to Rosie Dennison…1st Junior linear judging and 2nd junior stockjudging,  TomGorst….1st and Jonny Woodhouse…2nd in Intermediate stockjudng and Bob Lawrence…. 2nd and Michael Dewhurst …3rd in the Senior Linear Judging. Your hard work and dedication has paid off…..very well done to you all!

In June the Club hosted the ‘Lancashire Celebration’ when Mr David Tomlinson was elected as The Holstein UK President. Summer materialised with a fantastic week of warmth weatherwise to greet Holstein enthusiasts  from all over the UK. Both the Stardale and Bilsrow Herds looked tremendously well with some visitors also enjoying  trips  to the Manchester United ‘Theatre of Dreams’ football stadium and hydroponics in action at a farm breeding Limousin cattle in the stunning Ribble valley.
