Midlands Club News

The club has enjoyed a busy spring and summer starting off with a herd visit hosted by Nick and Louisa Sercombe at Knaptoft Farm, Lutterworth to the impressive new dairy unit built on a green field site.

The Royle family (Bolshaw) hosted a social and stock judging evening aided by Judge Andrew Spicer, in late June and young and older members had an afternoon of tuition in clay pigeon shooting kindly organised by Ian and Libby Forrester.

In July we visited Shanael Holsteins at Evesham and were welcomed by Paul and Steven Miller who gave us an excellent tour of the unit and an insight into their success as former Gold Cup winners.

Young breeders travelled to the National Competitions Day at Newton Rigg and had a very successful day. Lucy Jeyes came fourth place in the intermediate linear competition and Hannah Jeyes achieving eighth place in senior stock judging.

Congratulations to the Royle family for winning the overall herd award in our herd competition kindly judged by David Sayce.

The Club Calf Show was held in conjunction with Canwell Show, Sutton Coldfield in early August and judged by Tom Hill (Hydaways).
