Shropshire News

UK Dairy day turned out to be an extraordinary day for the Shropshire Club.  Knowlesmere Holsteins sweeping the board with both the black and white and the red champions. We also saw Rob Clare receive his award for winning the Western region herds competition. Congratulations to all concerned. We are very proud of them.

The combined calf show at Barbers Auction also proved to be a great day for the club with Stephanie Whittaker taking champion handler, Charlotte Cope reserve and honourable mention Eoin O’Neill.

Wyndford Doorman Zandra from Wilfred Maddocks took the club and overall Championship, with Knowlesmere Doorman Starlight taking the club reserve followed by Knowlesmere Brokaw Chancel in honourable mention for the Whittaker family.

The Gin Fest Study took place at the end of September; we visited Prairie, Brynhyfryd, Gatrog, Lan, Jackpot and Hillbarn Holsteins. At each visit we were greeted with tremendous hospitality and viewed superb herds, as well as considering various building designs and ideas along with an AD unit at Sion Davies’s.

We started our winter season with a visit from the Air Ambulance charity at which we presented them with a cheque for £2,000 and held our Macmillan cake bake which was low in numbers but high in quality, with Davy Dunlop winning the men's section and Irene Dixon winning Star Baker with a perfect score.
