Stock Judging evenings 

 

Members enjoyed two evenings of stock judging, the first a joint one with the Shropshire club held at John Lomax’s (Chorlton) , master judge being Mark Nutsford. This was very well attended and an excellent display of cattle forward for judging. The second evening was held at Tom and Andy Cope’s (Huddlesford), and although attendance was disappointing there was fantastic cattle to see, with Michael Lawrence (Lynholme) being the master judge here.  A third evening was arranged to enable the young members to concentrate on the Linear judging, this was held at Will Gallimore’s (Waterleese) with Phil Oliver officiating. Many thanks to these members who provided the venues, cattle and excellent refreshments.  

 

Herd Visit to The Millers (Shanael) 

 

A small but very select group of members made their way to visit this superb herd towards the end of July. We were welcomed by the Miller family with light refreshments on arrival and were then treated to viewing their wonderful cows and learning about the high level of management achieved by all those involved. Many thanks to the Miller family for accommodating us. 

 

Summer Herd Competition 

 

This took place in late June with the presentation evening held in October. Mike Winter (Corringham) kindly agreed to judge. This was able to be done over two days and the stewards were John Lomax and Debbie Mackellar. Mike said at the presentation evening how much he loved looking at good cows and he saw plenty of those in Staffordshire. Many thanks to Mike for judging and to his wife Shirley for presenting the trophies and cards to the successful entrants.
