Shropshire Holstein Club News April 2017.

6th March was the date for Tim and Keith Gue from Huddlestone Holsteins to speak to a very keen and interested group of members at our usual meeting place at Hall’s Auctioneers in Shrewsbury.

Tim told us about his various enterprises which include milking 400 cows with about 300 sheep and a considerable crops enterprise, including a farm up in the South East of Scotland recently added to the business.  Keith then presented some of his ideas regarding breeding and the various genetic tools that are available.

The farm visit to Tom Gethin’s  Brymar Hard was postponed following the serious accident involving Tom’s father on the farm during a very stormy day in March.  I am informed that Mr Gethin is recovering well at home and we send him best wishes.   We hope to re-arrange the visit sometime in the near future.

We are now well into our Summer events including Stock Judging evenings at Woodmarsh and Hawksmoor Holsteins.
The Show season is upon us and we look forward to welcoming fellow enthusiasts to our tent at Newport show as well as sharing the WW SIRES tent at Shropshire Show. Come and have a brew and a piece of cake with us.
