August 2017 Journal Entry

Our Spring Bull Show & Sale held at Wright Marshall’s Beeston Castle Auctions in April was once again won by Mr Richard Pilkington, this year with Aintree Fortune.  Thanks go to everyone who entered and to Mr Ray Brown who judged the Show.

Western Club were very pleased to join Shropshire Club for a stock judging event held by kind permission of Rob & Hilda Clare (Hawksmoor), which was a superb evening.  The Club’s second event took place at Smeaton Hall, Wrenbury by kind permission of Anne Stones and family.  Both events were great opportunities to see line-ups of quality animals and our thanks go to everyone involved in putting these evenings together and also to our Judges, Alan Robson and Richard Graham.  Our overall winners were:-

On 15th June a number of Members took a coach organised by the Club to visit the Whinchat Herd, winners of the 2016 Premier Pedigree Herd and home of Andrew & Mimi Birkle and family.  There’s been some great feedback from the day.  

The Club is now looking forward to our Summer Herds Competition at the end of June and to Cheshire and Nantwich Shows, and then our trip to the Irish National Ploughing Championships in September.
