29th June was the date for our Annual Golf competition which was held on the Championship course at Hawkstone Park and saw 20 keen members and friends competing.  Phil Arrell won the mens section and Pam Hiles took the honours for the ladies.

8th July was Newport Show at which members provided refreshments to visitors in need of some revival on a very warm and sunny day, in our Club tent.

The Holstein section was judged by David Wright from Berryholme Holsteins who placed James Doherty and Steph Whittaker as the Holstein Champions with Firstlook Dreamy Rickie who then went on to win the Inter-breed Championship.

30 members enjoyed a tremendous visit to Clive and Andrew Gurneys’ dairy enterprise at Abbey Court Farm, Wigmore on 20th July.

Here we saw the developments they have made since moving from Nantwich 20 years ago and now milking 300 cows with Lely Robots and running a very impressive business with family labour only, giving our members much to consider on the way home following a  grand lunch on the lawns provided by Sarah and her friend, which was much appreciated by all.

Sadly we have lost Mrs Beryl Cope who died on 17th July. We are very grateful that she was able to present a new trophy to the Club for our 100 ton Class commemorating her late husband Alan Cope.

Fortunatley Mrs Cope was able to present this trophy to the first winner which is Seaton Farms and received by Peter Seaton. (See picture) before becoming very ill.

Also we have been very concerned for our friend Clive Norbury who was taken ill while in Germany on business but is now back in the UK recovering. We wish Clive and his family very best wishes for a complete recovery.
