The judging took place again in the magnificent Bingley Hall where the competitors and the crowd of spectators were sheltered from the occasional heavy shower.
The Stewards assembled the seven entrants in the Junior Heifer class in good time and Mr Butterfield was able to make a good start to the judging. This was a strong class and set a good standard for the day. The winner was YK Bradbury’s Peak Atwood Lustre by Maple Downs IGW Atwood, followed by P&R Fenton’s homebred Springlee Damion Roxy, third was Holdcroft & Sons Dovetrent Sid Queenie by Pine Tree Sid, next was from the same home, Dovetrent Chris Bridesmaid, followed by John Lomax’s Chorlton Accolade Gem Red.
The Cow in-Calf class was won by A&D Mackellar’s Ridgefield Shottle Rosie, second was RJ Clare’s Hawksmoor Irene 52 by the homebred Hawksmoor Roman.
The Heifer in-Milk class was led by RJ Clare’s Hawksmoor Donna 33 and she was by Sandy Valley Bolton, next came WJ Nadin’s Sterndale Goldwyn Chloy, third was Holdcroft & Sons’ Dovetrent Royce Queenie Red who is by Sterndale Rose Royce, next came A&D Mackellar’s Cheviotview Talent Holly by Ladino Park Talent, followed by another heifer by the same bull, J Lomax’s Chorlton Talent Royal Red.
The next class was the Junior Cow in Milk and the winner, who went to be Champion, was Sterndale Shottle Ghost, obviously by that very famous Staffordshire bull. Second was Dovetrent Prom Sandra by Mr Derry Promotion followed by P&R Fenton’s Paulbrook Shottle Naomi, next came RJ Clare’s Hawksmoor Rosemary 209 by the homebred Renown, followed by A&D Mackellar’s Drointon WVJ Sally by Wilcoxview Jasper next came E&M Pearce’s Shelton Bradley Snowy by Rockali Bradley followed by Checkley Shottle Suminka.
Next came the Intermediate Cow in Milk class and this was won by YK Bradbury’s Peak Goldwyn Rhapsody by Braedale Goldwyn, she went on to be the Reserve Champion, followed by RJ Clare’s Hawksmoor Dora 47 by Far-O-La Debbie-Jo-Decker.
Senior Cow in Milk was next and this class was won by YK Bradbury’s Peak Allen Rachel sired by Canyon-Breeze Allen followed by RJ Clare’s Hawksmoor Ina 32 by the homebred Roman, third was A&D Mackellar’s Emka Jed Vick 10 by Juniper Rotate Jed.
The President of the Society, Mr Jimmy Hull, attended the show and the ladies of the Club were pleased to provide light refreshments for him and Mrs Hull.

Calving Interval – Add 1 point for each day under 400 days; deduct 1 point for each day over 400 days.
Production points – The average weight of fat and protein for the two consecutive lactations to be taken, one point will be awarded for each 2Kg fat and protein.
Milk Recording Certificates must be forwarded to the Show Secretary together with the cattle entry form.
