Averages: First quality heifers £1,810; Second quality heifers £1,260; First quality cows £1,450; Second quality cows £1,090

The massive weekly entry of 107 dairy cows and heifers, which included 99 in-milk, was the largest entry of 2016 so far.  The first 40 through the ring were all calved heifers and the best quality created considerable interest when 17 sold over £1,700, 6 over £1,800 and three over £1,900 to £,1930 x2 and £1,870 for pedigree and non pedigree heifers from Mr H R Lewis of Carmarthen.  

Other pedigree heifers to £1,920 and £1,800 from Mr D E Pyle, Exeter.  £1,880 for a Dowervale bred heifer from John Searle, Axminster.  Simon Cheacker of Bristol saw his heifer realise £1,860.  Others to £1,800 x2 for Messrs C R J & J A Bishop and Richard Webb; £1,790 from Messrs G J Searle & Sons; £1,780 for Mr D R Evans, Carmarthen and £1,760 from Mr A P Ractliffe, Gloucester.

Only a sprinkling of first quality cows to £1,700 and £1,230 from Messrs P H Creed & Son, Glastonbury.  The dispersal for Mr J E Bennion of Ledbury, Herefordshire saw cows to £1,200.               

Holstein in-calf heifers sold to £1,170 for Mr D R Glanfield.
