The top price at Messrs W H Brook & Sons sale at Clayton West, Huddersfield on Thursday 8th September was for a very smart red heifer by Manorhaven Louis red, whose daughters in the sale were particularly correct with excellent udders and giving plenty of milk. Claybrook Louis Anthea Red made 1,350 guineas to Peter Dakin from Clitheroe and was due to calve again in November. 

Bidders were selective but the 35 most recently calved milking heifers averaged £967 with 11 making 1,000 guineas or more. Served heifers averaged over £1,000 with a peak of 1,120 guineas. 

One of the main buyers was Mike Hobbis of Healthy Cows Ltd, who claimed 13 of the best milking cattle to join his new herd near Bristol. Other buyers came from Staffordshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Cambridge.
