Fresh milk was very much in demand at the on farm dispersal of the Malherbie herd of T S Jeanes & Partners, Ilminster, Somerset. 

The August calved two year old heifer Bridget  by Townhouse 359 Katmandoo sold for 1,820gns and her heifer calf by Regan-ALT Doodad for 400gns.

The second calver Paula 11 by Woodmarsh Topshot and the third calver Anne 74 by Denmire Macoy topped the sale both at 1,850gns with seven milkers realising over £1,800 and five over £1,900. Off lying late winter lower yielding cows met a selective trade whilst summer calvers back in-calf giving over 30kgs competed with the excellent fresh milk trade.

In-calf heifers from the Anne family by Woodmarsh Lotto sold to 1,500gns due this autumn to sexed semen with recently served heifers achieving 1,000gns for daughters of Marbri Applejack Red, Genervations Epic, Ralma Focus, Townhouse 359 Katmandoo and Scientific Destry.

The youngstock trade exceeded recent levels as purchasers plan for the long term with yearling heifers selling to 740gns x three for members of the Bonnie, Ceres and Patsy families. March born calves by Regancrest Beau sold to 580gns. 

“A” lot heifer calves at foot sold to 500gns for an Erica by Ballycairn Oman Pello.

37 purchasers were from Cornwall to Staffordshire.
