Auctioneers
Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a strong trade for freshly calved cows in their
Annual Autumn Gold Collective Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 18th
October 2016.
The continued
dispersal from Richard and Moira Parker topped the day at 2050gns for the VG86
third calver “Grangemore Lauthority Partridge 2nd” who had calved in August and
was giving 50 kgs daily. Their 7 third calvers entered in the sale averaged an
impressive £1672.00. At 1850gns was the VG85 second calver “Walkabout Bakombre
Raven” one of 14 consigned by E Gay & Son. KW & JM Hulbert Ltd
consigned 17 cows and heifers from their “Janke” herd to top at 1750gns for a
second calver and averaged £1589.00.
An abundance
of calved heifers provided purchasers with an impressive choice. RT Cox’s
August calved “Holmead Europa Model” sold to 1800gns. First time consigners
Emeraldgrove Farm Ltd of Dyfed were close behind at 1780gns for another
“Lauthority” daughter from their “Ladybird” family. Regular supporters LG Bagg
& Partners and PJ Andrews sold heifers to 1750gns. DR, IR & R Skinner
of Gloucestershire were rewarded with an average of £1500.00 for their first
time at Sedgemoor with 8 calved heifers.
A much
improved incalf heifer trade was generated for stronger heifers due in November
selling to 1350gns for W Green & Sons “Roundhillsfarm Miracle Haw” and AC
Daniell & Sons “Tungrove Altameteor Emma”.
The day
included the dispersal sale of the 6200kgs non recorded herd of British
Friesians for JM & JM Baker of Glastonbury, which saw August second calvers
by “Sherdon Texan” selling to 1400gns and March calved heifers back incalf to
1320gns.
41 successful
purchasers to include volume buyers from both Wiltshire and Wales produced the
