Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an exceptional entry of fresh milk at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 24th January which was rewarded with a very level trade averaging with calved cows £300 up on the year and heifers an impressive £600 up.

R E & H E Bugler & Partners of Bridport, Dorset put forward 20 cows and heifers which were rewarded with the day’s top price of 2 100gns for their heifer Bettiscombe Seaver Stephanie 188 with others at 1,980gns, 1,950gns x 2 and 1,900gns, they claimed an impressive six places of the top 10 heifers sold. Others were Rookhaye Wyman Dahlia at 2,000gns from Rookhaye Estate of Salisbury Clenchers Palermo Sandy at 1,900gns for Rea & Son of Ledbury, Hereford, Keevil Glauco Panda at 1,880gns for A & J E Fewings of Minehead and Dorset Golden Gable 5 at 1,800gns for Dimond Farming Ltd of Sherborne, Dorset. 

Cows topped at 2,000gns for the fourth calver Culverhayes Shottle Amanda EX90 that descended from the Osco Amanda 5 EX95(7) dam consigned by M A & S L Reed of Honiton, Devon. Also at 2,000gns was the much admired Clenchers Goldenboy Janice GP80 a second calver from Rea & Son. Other cows sold to 1,950gns for the third calver Bettiscombe Fever Pinkie 28 and 1,850gns for the EX91(2) fourth calver from R & M Parker Grangemore Fever Rosalie. 

Bulls sold to 1,450gns for R K & S G Miller & Sons Moorshard Treasure Island and 1,400gns for B L Davies & Sons Davlea Ploughman ET.

The day concluded with the first of a two part dispersal sale for J & H M Headon of South Molton where cows sold to 1,650gns for the December calved third calver Harps Ross Katrina and in-calf heifers topping at 1,640gns for Harps Trigger Present due in February, with her twin sister close behind at 1,620gns.
