Auctioneers GTH report a stronger trade for the better quality dairy stock on offer at their May Collective Sale at SAC on Tuesday 23rd May.  The day’s top price was achieved by the 2 ½ year old bull “Hennikers October VG87” with a PLI of £502 from the “Mr Sam” family he was consigned by A Warren of Dover. 
 
The fresh milk sold to 2150gns for regular consigners PJ Andrews of Ivybridge April calved heifer “Beneknowle 5G Vaakje 139th” who travelled to Wales.  An impressive freshly calved Cornish bred heifer “Leswidden Gunnar Holly” consigned by FG Summerhayes & Sons was close behind at 2100gns.  AE & V Kidner sold “Nuthatch” calved heifers to 1900gns and 1880gns.
 
Freshly calved cows topped at 1880gns for “Ciderhouse Fundraiser Fleur VG85” with “Ciderhouse Uno Fleur ET VG85” at 1850gns both second calvers from David & Valerie Norman.  DC Dennis & Son Ltd sold “Dinnaton Baxter Bradnick Breeze” another second calver for 1750gns and others to 1600gns x 2.
 
Well-bred incalf heifers from A Warren of Dover sold to 1700gns for “Hennikers Moonray Regenia” due in June she was from the same family as the top priced bull and joins the “Ciderhouse” Herd, the “Survivor Monogram” from the same herd, due in July sold to 1450gns.  Commercial non recorded heifers due in August from Coston Hall Farm Limited Norwich sold to 1180gns.
 
18 month old bulling heifers from W Green & Sons “Roundhillsfarm” herd sold to 830gns x 2 for daughters of “Cogent Twist” and “Wiltor Cruise”, with 11 month old heifers at 710gns x 2 from the same farm.  Heifer calves from Steanbow Limited sold for 360gns for daughters of “Steanbow Penmanship Nell” with a PLI of £495.
 
The dispersal of the “Waterhayne” Herd for GP & GC Barnacle witnessed cows to 1820gns for “Colt Slipper P 3rd” that was due in November to her second having calved last September and third calves to 1580gns for “Colt Slipper 2nd”.  Incalf heifers due November from the “Eclipse” family sold to 1300gns, with the 9 month old “Mitar Slipper P” selling for 750gns and heifer calves by “Bidlea Ramsey” at 340gns.
 
With vendors form as far afield as Dover, Norwich, Hereford and Plymouth and purchasers from Cornwall to Carmarthen the day generated the following creditable averages:-
