Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an excellent demand for a reduced entry at their
annual Mid-Summer Collective Sale. Derek and Jeremey Dennis’s “Dinnaton”
heifers claimed 4 out of the 5 top prices of the day topping at 2000gns for
“Palermo Mincio Total Eclipse” from the show winning “Eclipse” family, she had
calved just 3 weeks. Their calved heifers averaged an impressive £2029. Also at
2000gns was Keith and Jane Hulbert’s May calved heifer “Janke Twist Viola” as
they continue their staged herd dispersal.
The
Dennis’s and Hulbert’s also claimed the top priced cows with the third calver
“Janke Ole Iris 2nd” and third calver “Dinnaton Meteor Andrea VG85” selling for
1620gns.
The
3 bulls forward on the day sold to 1800gns for “Wyevalley DJ Fame” by “Cogent
Goodwell”. He is off to the Fay family.
The
recently improved trade for incalf heifers continued with David Luff selling
“Salcey Mars Sabine 2nd” due July for 1480gns. PC & R Jenner continued
their “Chesterton” dispersal with incalf heifers due August selling to 1450gns
for “Irresistable Betsy” and out of a 10,000kgs dam. Their 18 incalf heifers
averaged £1412.25.
Commercial
bulling heifers from DG & SA Cullen by “Beneknowle Perry” sold to 800gns
and 10 pedigree yearling heifers from RA & SA Reed’s “Allerways” herd sold
to 750gns twice for daughters of “TW Goodwhone” to average £759.15.
The
heifer calf trade was electric with 29 forward selling to 440gns for “Langaford
Deman Pansy” with a PLI of £302 from D Thorner and at 410gns was the 2 week old
“Steanbow Kampman Maria” with a PLI of £239 from Steanbow Ltd.
Despite
the exceptional hay making weather determined bidders made the most of the
stock on offer to produce the following creditable averages:
