Auctioneers, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Golden Opportunity Sale proved that strength of breeding was in demand with Cows topping the day at 1920 guineas for David Norman’s 2nd calver ‘Ciderhouse Strauss Rochelle’ (GP82). At 1880 guineas was another 2nd calver ‘Mendip Steady Molly 23rd’ (GP81) from TR Quick. Overall, heavy milking Cows attracted more interest than low yielding Heifers as purchasers chase milk.
Calved Heifers sold to 1750 guineas for Nick Kay’s ‘Opencountry Appleman Strawberry’ and 1700 guineas for PJ Andrews ‘Beneknowle Deray Governers 63rd’.
Bulls from Panda Holsteins renowned ‘Fools Gold’ line sold to 1500 guineas for the yearling ‘Panda Rio Red ET’.
Incalf Heifers from PC & R Jenner due August sold to 1400 guineas for ‘Chesterton Irresistible Lilac’. Brown Swiss X Heifers due September to the Angus were in demand selling to 1200 guineas for Carol Macpherson.
Yearling Heifers from JAW Bendall & Son sold to 670 guineas x 3 for members of the Pensdown Peggy and Videt families.
Heifer calvers from the Steanbow Ltd continued youngstock dispersal sold to 420 guineas for the 4 week old ‘Steanbow Ice Knapman’.
42 purchasers from Cornwall to Caerphilly made the most of the opportunity to secure stock when many were chasing the weather.
