Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an excellent trade for the best quality quality dairy cattle at their Michaelmas Collective Sale on the 19th September at Sedgemoor Auction Centre.

 

The fresh calved heifer “Lilylane Silver Anita 87th” from Lilylane Farms Ltd took the top spot selling for 2400gns to a purchaser from Bath who secured 11 on the day. The VG86 two year old “Fools Gold” heifer from Panda Holsteins sold to the Drionton Herd for 2300gns. Non-pedigree heifers by “Fantasy Orageux” from HJ Baldwin & Son sold to 2200gns. Other Collective heifers to break the 2100gns barrier were from “Dinnaton”, “Beneknowle” and “Holmead”. 

 

Collective entry cows sold to 2100gns for a second calver from Carmarthen “Allstar Samuelo Enough GP83” with others at £2000 from “Dinnaton” and “Longmoor”.

 

Highlights of the collective youngstock were incalf heifers from KI Cottey to 1420gns for “Pinksmoor Wiseman Lyn” and 1400gns for J & J Bown’s “Steventon Jeeves Juliana”. Yearling heifers from R & M Parker’s final Grangemore dispersal sold to 1120gns for “Grangemore Marcelon Partridge” and the 4 week old heifer calf “Allstar Ladd Enough P Red” sold for 550gns.

 

The first sale from the “Gladwake” Herd for W & P Ives of Basingstoke generated a great deal of interest with the milking cows and heifers averaging £1981 with no less than 13 over 2000gns. Topping at 2200gns was the much admired second calver “Gladwake Morale Henja 2nd” giving 53 kgs daily. Incalf heifers due October sold to 1900gns for “Gladwake Zebra Priska” and averaged £1755. Their maiden heifers averaged £964.50 selling to 1000gns twice for the 16 month old “Firewall Jan” and “Hilliard Lady”.

 

With 38 lots selling for in excess of £2000 and 46 successful purchasers on the day from Cornwall to Pembrokeshire to Staffordshire the following creditable averages were achieved:
