A notable entry of dairy cattle at Whitland including a consignment of 10 top quality heifers from the Clynderwen Herd, a freshly calved heifer from Cilfeithy Farm Services and the dispersal of the most impressive Trefgarn herd of Gerallt and Sarah Miles, Home Farm, Treffgarne. The Clynderwen heifers got proceedings started with ten upstanding heifers that sold to a top of £1800 for Clynderwen Rocco Kelly. A super charged commercial heifer from Rhys Jones, Cilfeithy Farm Services sold at £1720 and Clynderwen heifers also sold at £1720 and £1700 and averaged £1487 for the ten heifers. Two dairy bulls were also forward with a good Pedigree Shorthorn Bull from Lanfro sold at £700 and Churchvale Alfie sold at £1550.

The Trefgarn herd followed and a lot of interest had been generated in the build up to this sale especially through JJ Morris’s first class online marketing with the Facebook page attracting thousands of direct views to the sale notice. Catalogues were in high demand and this was reflected with the crowd of buyers in attendance and the trade that the cows demanded. Top price of the day was for Trefgarn Garrett Floss VG85 (ASR). She was the foundation cow of this family line and at 85pts it will be cow family to maintain for generations to come. She sold at £2200. Other leading prices were £1850 for Trefgarn Drayman Enid GP83, £1820 for Trefgarn Ponder Will VG85 and £1800 for Trefgarn Zoro ADA VG87 and Trefgarn Topshot Shower.

All in all 35 successful bidders managed to secure some good animals and more went home empty handed also.
