This week’s
sale received a great entry of quality cattle and certainly there was something
for every buyer. Once again we had a packed ringside and this creates such a
tremendous atmosphere which is priceless; as vendors and purchasers had travelled
from far and wide to be part of the action at Market Drayton.
Many different
breeds were represented and indeed keenly sought after; leading the day was a
heifer selling for £2,320 from our regular weekly vendor Barry Evans, of
Ruthin, who consigns honest milky heifer’s week on week. This heifer was fresh
a week and was secured by Oakley Farming Ltd of Dorrington who took home with
them many great purchases on the day. Their purchases also included a super Brown Swiss cross heifer that was part
of a great consignment from The Jones Family; Pwllheli In North Wales, whose
batch of tremendous fresh heifers were milking seriously well and met a very
strong trade averaging £1,777.14!
Selling for
£2,200 was a great heifer from Alview Farms, this pedigree Crackholm Fever
daughter yielding 30.kg daily, was secured by Messrs B & E Elkin, of
Hilderstone, with two other great heifers from this home realising £2,040 and
£1,900.
Many heifers
cruised over £2,000 today with numerous others over £1,900.
Messrs A Hulme
sold a lovely heifer Overton Dare Alice Red; she calved on the 8th
February and was yielding 28.kg daily she realised £2,080 to Richard Bowdler of
Ellesmere.
Shorthorns
Heifers sold to £1,520 for O C Whittaker & Son of Knutsford.
Fleckvich
cross served heifers sold to £900 for the Spendlove family.
It was a super

establishing itself as having great choice for purchasers and vendors alike.
