A wonderful entry of 90 animals passed through the sale ring on 14th March at Market Drayton, the ring was bubbling with the superb atmosphere that we have become accustomed too, this materialised in again another rip roaring start to finish, with 12 animals selling over £2,000, and many others cruising over £1,800 with a total clearance of all animals.

The trade was led by a superb cow from Hankins Heys Farm Ltd of Bureton, Nantwich who consigned 7 tremendous in milk cows and heifers to average £2142.86. Hankins Gerrard Harriet, a Oman Gerrard daughter calved on the 1st February and was yielding 43kg daily, this super balanced cow sold for £2,500 to J L Trow of Emstrey, Shrewsbury, who also took home with them Hankins Sid Fame a great 3rd calved cow from the same consigner at £2,300.

Another great cow from this home, Hankins Bobby Biddy calved on the 7th February and was yielding 49kg daily she was secured by regular purchasers, BG & MA Elkin & Sons Ltd of Hilderstone, the Elkin family also took home with them a lovely heifer from T G Phillips & Co of Llanymynech at £2,220; Burgedin Lumberjack Cassy who calved on the 3rd March and was already achieving 28kg a day.

T G Phillips also consigned another cracking heifer Burgedin Allabout Iris. This Mr-All About It daughter calved on the 3rd March was yielding 32.3kg she was snapped up by Oakley Framing Ltd of Dorrington, Shropshire.
A great heifer from S J Pickering of Pontesford, sold for £2,150 - Salwick Hall Jantje 130th calved just 14 days was yielding 32kg daily and heads to Oakley Farming of Dorrington, who also took home with them a well grown heifer Weavermoss Glenton Rosemary from E V & B Boughey & Son of Tarporley at £2,040. Also selling from the Boughey family was another super heifer Woodlake MVP Wales, this fresh calved heifer just a week fresh was yielding 30kg, and she was purchased for £2,020 by Richard Bowdler of Ellesmere.

In calf Heifers sold to £1,200 for Snelson Raeson Jazz, this heifer is in Calf to the Angus and is due in the next 6 weeks.

A large entry of grazing type In Calf heifers from W H Hill & Son of Rugeley Stafford, due to calve from the summer onwards met a very strong trade selling to £1,000, with lots of buyers keen to secure them.

Heifer calves sold to £205 for J Berrisford of Crewe.
