Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt were at Amberley, Arundel, West Sussex on Thursday 24th May for the dispersal of the autumn calving “Wildbrooks” herd on behalf of Castle Farm Partnership. A big thank you to our regular purchasers who followed us up from Carmarthen, Cornwall and across the South West to make the sale a great success taking 83% of the 300 head of cattle back to the West Country and Wales.  

The sale topped at 2100gns for the red and white GP84 second calver “Wildbrooks Atlantic Rose” due in August to the Pine-Tree Arbor Red sire, she travelled back to Dorset. At 2000gns was “Wildbrooks Altacornell Bonita GP83” out of a VG89 dam and due to her second in August and “Wildbrooks Altaskycrest Tutu GP82” also due in August to her third. 

The excellent incalf heifer trade of recent weeks continued with the “Wildbrooks Altatd Riki Red” due in August to the red sexed semen selling for 1750gns and the “Altasamoa Thyme” with a PLI of £328 also due in August to sexed semen selling for 1700gns. Others by “Mopan ET” and “Melarry Altamatt” sold to 1650gns and 1640gns.

The maiden heifers, mostly August 2017 born, sold to 800gns for another red and white being “Wildbrooks Altatd Rose Red”. Seventeen daughters of “Peak Altamoreno”, “Peak Altapainter”, “Peak Altatuscan” and “K&L MS Patience” sold to 780gns.  

The 2016 born Aberdeen Angus bull “Amberley Charlie Boy” sold for 2090gns.

The day started with surplus machinery and dairy equipment with the 18:18 Direct to Line Parlour selling for £12,800, the New Holland T4020 Tractor for £11,600 and the 12 Tonne Richard Western Dung Spreader at £8000.
