The end of almost 50 years of breeding for David and Valerie Norman was celebrated fittingly with the most synonymous family of their Ciderhouse herd, the “Fleurs” taking top spot with dam and daughter selling for 4400gns. The dam being the much admired “Ciderhouse Mogul Fleur”, an Ex91 third calver from 11 generations of VG and EX selling for 2400gns to a volume buyer from Leicestershire and her show calf by “Shottle” selling for 2000gns and stays local selling to Olly Coombes (Yardgrove.) 

 

Attracting a large amount of interest was the “Scant” family originating from a purchase from Cogent and David had already sold a bull from the family to AI in Spain. “Ciderhouse Spring Scant (VG86-2yr)” who is a future show cow due in August to her second, sold for 2700gns to David & Ian Chave (Peacehay) and her “Mozarella” heifer sold for 1300gns. The much-admired family even saw the sixth calver by “Shottle” achieve 2100gns. 

 

The cover girl “Ciderhouse Epic Bailey” achieved 2550gns with her “Superstar” heifer to 1700gns. Two more cows achieved over 2500gns and in total there was 46 lots to achieve in excess of £2000 and combined with their heifer calves there was 17 dam and daughter combinations in excess of £3000

 

Top price calved heifer was “Ciderhouse Buick Rochelle” at 2400gns. A superb group of incalf heifers sold to 1950gns twice for two “Fleurs” by “Grafeeti” and “Drummer”. Bulling heifers to 1000gns for “Ciderhouse Rabo Scant” and yearlings to 1900gns for “Ciderhouse Superstar Fleur” who will no doubt be seen in the show ring later on this summer. 

 

The two Holstein bulls from the “Scant” family sold for 1950gns and 1800gns and the Hereford bull sold to 2150gns. 

 

The guest consignment from Peachy Holsteins sold to 3000gns for the freshly calved red heifer by “Absolute” who sold to Carmarthen and the fourth calver show cow “Peachy Ava Tyrol VG88” sold for 2650gns.  

 

An extremely well supported sale saw 72 successful purchases many from West Wales, also the Midlands down to Cornwall and all of the local Counties and achieving the following excellent averages:
