9 Sold Auctioneer: Gwilym Richards Sale at 11 am
2,150GNS ROSS DAIRY HEIFER
2,150gns and 2,050gns was achieved for the very best calved heifers at the June Monthly Collective Dairy Sale at Ross-on-Wye Cattle Market where many more could have been sold to take advantage of the bidding power of the assembled buyers.
The top price was 2,150gns for a red and white calved heifer from Brownswood Holsteins, Worcester.
2,050 was received by Geoff and Jean Williams of Hay-on-Wye for a Knapman bred calved heifer sired by Toc Farm Duplex Glauco.
Both Brownswood Holsteins and Geoff and Jean Williams sold other heifers for 1,900gns.
Auctioneer Gwilym Richards remarked that this was the best trade of the year so far but unfortunately the numbers forward were totally inadequate to satisfy the strong demand.
There were no cows forward.
