62 DAIRY ANIMALS THROUGH THE WEEKLY SALE

We have had a cracking entry of 62 animals this week, with the ringside deep with people despite the Cheshire show, and once again our weekly has featured a very consistent trade from start to finish.

Leading the day’s trade was a super heifer from David Bramhall of Minshull Vernon, Crewe who consigned four super heifers, selling for £2,220 was a super fresh calved commercial heifer which calved on the 8th June and was already yielding 32kg daily, she was purchased by RA & AR Williams, Wrinehill, Crewe. Also from this home was Minver Drumer Vera a heifer fresh calved on the 6th June, she was yielding 31kg daily and purchased by Oakley Farming, Dorrington They also took home with them a second calved cow from Tomkinson Farms Ltd of Gnosall, Stafford for £2,080 who was yielding 44kg daily.

A super pedigree heifer from Richard Thompson of Sudbury, Church Eaton Galaxy Greta realised at £1,950 selling to RA & AR Williams, Wrinehill, Crewe. While selling for £1,920 was Minver Drummer Liberty from Dave Bramhall, with this great fresh heifer yielding 28kg daily she was purchased by Messrs BG & MA Elkin & Sons Ltd of Hilderstone.

Other great heifers sold readily over £1,700 with the second quality heifers selling between £1,400 and £1,600.

The cow trade today was a little more mixed with a wider range of quality forward and some buyers being a little more selective, certainly the bottom end was very strong throughout but the second quality animals ranged far more in price than they have for a little while, certainly it was milk which was selling, anything not just looking as milky was not as desirable.

A super Simmental stock bull sold for £1,700 for R Smith from Eaton, Tarporley, and this pedigree bull really looked the part and was purchased by DE &SE Furnival Ltd.

Served Heifers sold to £1,000 for J Huxley.

Heifer Calves sold to £165 for Messrs Swinson.

Brown Swiss Calves to £100 for H Davies of Puddington.

We already have good entry consigned for next week including a good group from the ongoing dispersal from Essex together with the usual consigners.
