 DISPERSAL SALE OF THE LONNING HERD

TWO GOLDMINES TOP AT LONNING 

 

 

The Todhunter family from Lonning Farm, Wigton dispersed their highly respected pedigree Holstein herd at Borderway, Carlisle following the June pedigree Holstein sale.  The sale was supported by neighbours and friends plus a massive crowd of buyers from across the UK.  Trade topped twice at 2,400gns with ten animals selling for or more than £2000.

 

The first to sell for 2,400gns was Lonning Goldmine Daisy who was sired by Hydaways Goldmine.  She had calved back in November and had been recently bred to Peak AltaMarlon in May, she had tested at 41kgs and was purchased by JJ Taylor, High Whinnow Farm, Wigton.

 

The second to sell for 2,400gns was Lonning Goldmine Cyllene. This youthful second calver had freshened back in Marh and was producing over 50kgs per day.  She now joins the Blamire family from Park House Farm, Wigton.

 

Lonning Admiral Agnes  sired by Smithden Admiral sold for 2,250gns.  She was fresh in March and was producing over 50kgs and was purchased by JT & EM Marrs, Broomhills, Carlisle.

 

 Also selling for 2,250gns was Lonning Doodad Vivacious sired by Regan-ALH Doodad. Vivacious was a March calving heifer currently giving 31kgs and had been recently bred back to Alta 1stClass.  She was purchased by RK & C Rudd & Sons, Grassings Farm, Wigton.

 

Another daughter of  Regan-ALH Doodad sold for 2,200gns this time for Lonning Doodad Bride. Bride was a silky hided young two year old with a perfect udder and was purchased by TS Thompson, Kirkton Farm, Fife.
