Spotlight Shines on Show Style Solomon from Churchvale at 6300gns

The Annual Spotlight Sale for elite pedigrees at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, now in its fifth year, generated tremendous interest from breeders across the length and breadth of the UK & Ireland.

Topping the days prices at 6300gns was the much-admired show calf "Churchvale Solomon Rachel" consigned by Richard Thomas and family from Carmarthen. This stylish calf was out of VG88-2yr Sid who traces back to "Rockset Faber Rachel" and after spirited bidding Randolph Miller and son Brian secured her for their renowned Moorshard Herd based in Somerset.

Lot one commenced proceedings in style being the VG88 Red second calver who had been recently scored with an excellent Mammary and was a granddaughter of the world famous "Rainyridge Talent Barbara". Consigned by Panda Holsteins at 3,800gns she was one of the many lots making their way across the Irish channel to successful northern and southern Irish purchasers.

John & Mary Hill consigned four super heifers with a Flagship from the Ladys-Manor S family commanding 3700gns selling to Tom Reed of Gatcombe.

Hefyn Wilson and family being a successful part of the Welsh contingent of vendors achieved 3600gns for with their stylish Callen show calf from the Denmire Marie family which also joins the Miller's Moorshard herd.

Vendors Belle Genetics and Ali Cook that sent two heifers from Dumfries & Cumbria were well rewarded achieving 3200gns and 3100gns for "Belle Sol Australia" & "Auchensala Diamondback Rox 2" respectively.

Jerseys consigned by Barry & Jenny Daw from their Bluegrass herd were in great demand selling to a top of 3000gns for a stylish incalf heifer with show potential from the Blondette family.

Brown Swiss heifers brought down from Dumfries by Johnny Lochead saw "Kedar Blooming Jamaica" achieving 2750gns, the heifer was incalf to sexed semen, from a show winning family and travels to Essex.
