SIZZLING TRADE FOR STRONG ENTRY OF 67 ANIMALS TOPPING £2,150 FOR THE JULY SHOW &

SALE

The hot weather outside was certainly matched inside the ring today at our monthly Show and Sale.

Kindly judged by long standing supporter of our dairy sales, Kevin Naughton of Semex. With a strong

group of both cows and heifers judging was certainly no easy task but one which Kevin rose to.

Top price of the day was shared by two animals; firstly it went to the overall champion and 1st place

heifer consigned by JM Griffin, Hill Top Farm, Sutton Coldfield. Canwell Krusader Rolanda was a

superb clean and balanced heifer currently yielding 28kg having calved on 17th June. This was

purchased by Oakley Farming Ltd, Dorrington with his usual good eye for quality and he also took

home with him a real correct and milky heifer for £1,900 from Tomkinson Farms Ltd, Gnosall.

Currently yielding 31kg having calved just of a week from an Excellent 93 dam.

Oakley Farming Ltd also took home a real power house of a second calver. With real strength and

width matched by an outstanding udder. Currently yielding 37kg which was purchased for £2,140

also from the same home of Tomkinson Farms Ltd.

Joint top price of £2,150 was also achieved by PM Scott, Tilston who entered a real head turner 2nd

lactation cow that took 1st prize cow and overall Reserve Champion. Phildon Braxton Paradise

currently yielding 39kg was purchased by Richard Bowdler, Park Hall Farm who was also the happy

purchaser of a real classy cow yielding 41kg, sold by a regular vendor.

Other notable entries included a lovely consistent group consigned by EV & B Boughey & Son,

Iddenshall. Hitting £1,950 for a heifer with real strength and width and only just 2 years of age.

Topcroft Dreamer Dawn having only calved just over a week and already giving 30kg was snapped up

by Richard Bowdler, Park Hall Farm.

H Davies, Namor House Farm, Puddington once again consigned a group of Brown Swiss milk

machines which included a real dairy 2nd calver yielding 39kg which went to DM & PA Scott & Son,

Hamner for £1600.

The sale also included a consignment of 14 in-calf Friesian crosses, all due to calve from October to

January on behalf of Evans of Denbigh. Trade for these animals was consistent and reached £910 for

a Friesian Cross due November.

We were greeted by a number of additional entries on the day which included a lovely consignment

on behalf of H & EW Harrison & Sons, Moreton Saye. Included was a cracker of a heifer with a udder

of real quality which hit £1,780 and went to a local purchaser.

We would like to congratulate all our vendors on a superb entry and we thank you all for your

continued support of the weekly dairy sale.

Don’t forget next week we have the youngstock dispersal on behalf of JW Jones & Sons. Comprising

75 animals from 2 months onwards. This is a real genuine closed pedigree herd. The sale will

proceed the weekly dairy sale. For further details or catalogue requests please do not hesitate to

contact us.
