5500gns high for ‘Elite’ Brown Swiss at GTH’s first on Farm sale in Wales

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt were delighted to receive instructions from the Williams family of Llangain Carmarthen to disperse their Lyganlan Holsteins and Elite Brown Swiss on Farm on Friday 6th July.

An excellent catalogue of pedigrees generated interest from all four countries of the United Kingdom and an exceptional crowd at Clomendy Farm for GTH’s first on Farm dispersal in Wales.

No less than 38 lots sold for in excess of 2000gns with 10 of these over 3000gns to a top of 5500gns on a day when 8 hours of selling saw 400 individual lots through the ring following the selling of the surplus livestock equipment.

The popularity of the Brown Swiss breed was in no doubt when members of the show winning “Lovely” family took the three top prices of the day.

At 5500gns was the show winning “Elite WR Lovely Ex95” having calved to her 4th she was giving 54.7kgs and open for flushing. She joins MAJ Weaver and families “Astonpool” Herd to continue her showing career.  Her maternal sister “Manchester Lovely Ex91” sold for 2600gns followed by her 2018 “Calvin” heifer calf at 3600gns and her 2017 born recently served “Glen Blooming” heifer at 3000gns.

Also out of the “Elite Manchester Lovely Ex91” was the VG88 second calver “Elite Vivid Lovely’’ now in her second lactation she sold for 5000gns to S & P Williams of Haverfordwest for their “Wilholme” herd.

Top call for the Holsteins came for the renowned “Vaakje” family with the April calved VG87 “Ghostly” selling for 3100gns to the Somerset “Lilylane” Herd.  At 3000gns were members of the much admired “Rhapsody” family being the Ex90 “Texas Rhapsody” and the GP84 “Doorman Rhapsody”, others at 3000gns were from the “Generous” and “Popstar” families.

A small number of Jerseys also sold with the VG86 “Elite Baba Jean” who had calved in December to her second and her “Beautiful” sired heifer calf selling together for 2700gns.
