Richard and Dawn Bown of Richaven Holsteins, Hanley Castle, Nr Worcester celebrated winning the Holstein UK's Premier Herd Award by holding an Open Day & Special Sale on their farm on Wednesday 7th July.

A very good crowd witnessed a lively sale with two lots selling for a top price of 5,400 gns. First to achieve this was Richaven Shottl Adrienne, a very stylish August 2009 Picston Shottle daughter. Her dam is Richaven Goldwyn Adrienne(VG88-3YR) who was 3rd in her class at this year’s National All-Breeds Show. Designer Holsteins from Essex were the purchasers.

Augustin Celis of La Ponderosa Farm in Spain continued to acquire some of the smartest young heifers in the UK with his purchase of Richaven Goldwyn Squaw 3 ET, a beautiful July 2009 Braedale Goldwyn daughter of Richaven Leader Squaw (EX91) who had given 12,152 kg 4.45%BF 3.23%PR in her 2nd lactation.Gdam was the 2x 14,000 kg Severnvales Chief Squaw (EX93-3E-14*) who was Nominated All-Britain Mature Cow 2002 & who bred 7 (EX) & 4 (VG) daughters.

Another member of Richaven's hugely impressive Squaw family claimed the next high price of 4,700 gns. This was paid for Richaven Goldwyn Squaw 4 ET, a November 2009 Braedale Goldwyn daughter of Richaven Raider Squaw(EX94-2E) who was 3rd Snr Cow in Milk & a Member of The All-Britain Breeders Group at the 2010 National All-Breeds Show.

Overall 16 Females sold (Full Clearance) to average £3,048.28.
