BORDER & LAKELAND CLUB 22^ND ANNUAL EVENING BULL SALE

The bull sale as unpredictable as ever comprised a wonderful variety of genetics from pure American Holsteins to 100% British Friesians.

The catalogue was studied by purchases to the extent that provided the bull itself has good robust conformation, emphasis was placed on the dams side of the pedigree having longevity and high components and milk.

Top price of 5600gns was for a handsome, stretchy well built son of Braedale Goldwyn from three generation of Excellent, 5% cows of the Kitty family. Bred by James and Louise Wilson of Evening Hill Farm, Thursby the bull was out of the homebred Evening Storm Kitty EX93 and was honourable mention in the show and now joing the herd of MJ Wilson, Gate Farm, Uldale.

The overall champion “Annandale Tempting was selected by judge Edward Griffiths from the “Coachgate” herd. This bull was one of an impressive line up from regular successful vendors Messrs Armour of Moffat, he was sired by Canyon-Breeze Allen from the EX93 Annandale Gelpro Hope 3 that traces through 5 Excellent dams to Ells Prince Hope.

At 4800gns was another striking 16 month old son of Ladino Park Talent bred, like the other two leading prices from three straight Excellent dams, and which were all over 5% BF and 3.7% P and had proven longevity.

The top price British Friesian came from Ian Brocket’s impressive consignment, two of his “Winnoch”, 2yr old bulls made 2500gns each and both were from the great “Penguin” family and by homebred sires. Again longevity, high components and Excellent type were features of both pedigrees.
