<<< Back to Sale Reports

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt were at Combe Dingle Farm, combe St Nicholas, Chard, Somerset on Tuesday 12th October for the retirement sale of John & Margaret Stenhouse’s “Streetash” herd of Holsteins.  With so few dairy dispersal sales scheduled for the autumn in the South West, farmers turned out in their droves to see over thirty years of milking come to an end when the herd was dispersed.

A constant trade topped at 1820gns for the third calver “Streetash Principal Quince” who was due her fourth in November.  At 1800gns was the freshly calved fourth calver “Streetash Lucente Hazel”.  The blue roan cow being sold attracted strong interest with the May calved heifer “Streetash Nansen Erin” sold for 1420gns.

Recently served heifers sold to 1080gns for the two year old “Streetash Darcy” and 1060gns for the non registered daughter of “Scotchhills Patriot”.  Commerical maiden heifers sold to 810gns and heifer calves to 480gns.

A day that was exceptionally well attended with strong local support coupled with buyers from Cornwall and Wiltshire generated the following very creditable averages:-

£1,184

Calved Heifers

£1,336

Served Heifers
