Monday 1st November 2010.

After a difficult summer of selling Jersey cattle nationally, Greenslade Taylor Hunt are able to report a much improved trade for the first of three sales to disperse the Tremeere Herd of Pedigree Jerseys for Stephen and Ruth Thomas of Bodmin, Cornwall.

Auctioneer, Derek Biss, commented that it was fitting to see the 1,000gns barrier broken again for such a fine herd of Jerseys. Robert Reed of Seaton, Devon paid 1,020gns for the 3rd calver Tremeermanor Hibe Hansen calved in September and giving 26.7kgs. She had a PLI of 129 and was a great example of the breed.

Danish bred Bungay Berlin DJHB with a PLI of 97 secrued the next highest price of £945 being a September 4th calver purchased by Tony Dallyn of North Devon. Five further cows sold in excess of £800.

Overall the cows and heifers averaged nearly £700 a piece and we now wait in anticipation of the next consignment to be sold at Sedgemoor Auction Centre in the Christmas Cracker Sale to be staged on the 7th December next. Full details available from the Auctioneers.
