For the second month running the Champion at the Border & Lakeland Club sale came from Alan Cannon of Espland Holsteins, Brampton.  She was sired by Braedale Pagewire bred from a classy Stormatic dam with over 11,000kgs as a four year old.  This awesome uddered heifer sold for 2,250gns and now joins the herd of J. Harrison, Wickerfield, Penrith.  Judging the show was Angus Kennedy from the Caledonia herd from Eaglesfield, his second place in the Champion’s class was also from Espland and again bred by the same sire.  She sold to the same buyer for 1,680gns.  Completing a very impressive day for Espland was selling the second top price of the day again to J. Harrison, Wickerfield, Penrith fro 2,100gns.  She was sired by Gillette Final Cut and bred from A GP84 Convincer dam with over 13,000kgs followed by a grand dam and third dam both classified Very Good.

 

Another very impressive consignment of heifers was forwarded by Noel McCarragher from Aghavilly Holsteins, Fernycleugh, Lochmaben.  The top price from this herd was a Ladino Park Talent daughter from a Ja-Bob Jordan dam with over 10,000kgs and over 5% butterfat.  She sold for 2,050gns and now joins the notable herd of N&SJ Sanderson, Burtholme Farm, Brampton.   Aghavilly also sold an Overside Dictator daughter for 1,950gns to TF Pollock, Towngate, Carlisle.  This heifer was gifted with a wonderful mammary, powerful frame and strong feet and legs, displaying all the attributes to make an Excellent cow.

 

Regular consignor Wormanby Holsteins owned by the Hodgson family Burgh-by-Sands Carlisle consigned two classy heifers the best of them selling for 1,800gns to J. Reay & Son Park Farm, Carlisle.  She was a long, silky, dairy heifer giving 38kgs and sired by R-E-W Buckeye.  Supported by a tremendous pedigree with an Excellent dam and grand dam with that were sired by Outside and Charles respectively.

 

A special consignment of in calf heifers from JJ Graves Priory Farm, Carlisle followed the milking consignments.  They were mostly sired by top proven sires such as Baxter, Bolton, Jordan, Calypso and Aaron and were due to calve from February to July.  The best of this well grown group of heifers sold to T Forsyth, Isle Farm, Whithorn for 1,600gns she was a Roylane Jordan daughter due in March to Proirywood Lantz Minister and bred from a dam with over 12,000kgs as a three year old.

 

Embryos sold to a top of £350 for Atwoods from an Excellent Ladino Park Talent from the Broker Elegance family.  Grand dam was an Excellent 95 Encore sister to Express.  More embryos are available privately please call the pedigree office.
