Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an exceptional trade for their first annual collective sale of the year staged at Sedgemoor Auction Centre.  A  large entry of 202 head which started with the collective entry from leading SW herds when over 200 people witnessed no less than 37 lots selling for over 2000gns to 58 different purchasers who travelled from as far as Cornwall and Camarthen.  Ian Dimond’s Dorset herd once again topped the collective section with the January calved heifer “Dorset Samuelo Molly 2nd” sold for 2150gns.  The January 2nd calver from DC Dennis & Son “Dinnaton Ital Drake Wallen GP 84” that was giving 47kgs and the November 2nd Calver from Rookhaye Estate “Rookhaye Roy Gretchin GP83” giving 42.2kgs both sold for 2000gns.  Of the 4 bulls on offer JC Palmer’s “Sherdon Connect” by “Lylehaven Lightning” and out of 6 generations of Ex or VG sold for 1600gns.  Other’s from the collective section at over 2000gns came from regular consigners Roland & Simon Buglers “Bettiscombe” Herd and Randolph & Brian Millers “Moorshard” Herd.

This was followed by the much anticipated “Ciderhouse” Sale for David & Valerie Norman.  The opportunity to purchase one of the famous “Fleur” family was one too good to be missed and it was “Ciderhouse Wildman Fluer” VG88 a 2nd calver with a PLI +£236 that topped the day at 2700gns an honour that she shared with “Ciderhouse Shottle Fleur” VG86 an October 2nd calver that was giving 46.7kgs.  The heifers were close behind selling to 2650gns for “Ciderhouse Baxter Karen” GP84 who had calved in October and she goes to join the Target families “Carymoor” Herd.  A real feature of the day were the Ciderhouse heifer calves who looked a picture and sold to 880gns for “Ciderhouse Matson Nora 2nd” the month old daughter the VG85 two year old dam.

The final section of the day was the “Sandleaze” dispersal for Nick & Robert Goss when 69 calved heifers were sold to a top of 2300gns for “Moorshard Shottle Katey 292nd” who had calved in November and was out of the VG88 dam.  Others sold to 2150gns for the January calved “Englefield Artic Torch”, November calved  “Poundhill Krielstra Miranda”, and October calved “Marcroft LPT TIM & ALI Lydia Red”.
