A massive entry of 162 dairy cattle for the first special sale of the month sold to a flying trade from start to finish with a packed ringside of buyers from all over Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset! The first quality cows and heifers averaged £1806 with top of the day at £2220 for a 2nd calver “Culverhayes Lucas Cherry” a granddaughter of Talent which calved fresh in June and sold giving 37kgs from Treginegar Dairy Farm of Padstow. Top heifer was £2100 for “Ventonian Kendall Lisa” sired by Alfrag Juror Kendall and sold giving 33kgs from Messrs EJ & WJ Grigg of Bideford. Messrs Grigg had seven others over £1800 and their consignment of 14 averaged a very creditable £1702. Messrs AF & SG Loud of Lewdown sold another quality consignment as part of their dispersal to a very fast trade topping at £1900 for a heifer “Combebow Wren 10” by Overside Dictator, Messrs Loud also sold 5 others over £1700 and received the day’s best average of £1785. We sold the first consignment to disperse the non pedigree and non recorded dairy herd for Messrs CL, CS & MI Greet of Saltash which sold to a very strong trade to £1900 for a 2nd calver by Wa-Del Convincer which calved in March and her mother which was the oldest cow in the sale and sold in her 9th lactation for £1200.  The same vendors sold others to £1880 for a fresh heifer sold giving 35kgs and their consignment went onto average £1351.
 
 
A pedigree dry cow due in August by Roylane Jordan sold to £1450 from Messrs OJ Hopper & Son of Beaworthy who also sold in calf heifers to £1450 for a heifer due end of August to sexed semen. A quality consignment of in calf heifers from Mr M & Mrs AR Grose of Helston sold due late August onwards to Limousin to £1500 twice and averaged £1395.
 
 
Two super consignments of bulling heifers sold to the strongest demand seen for some time with spirited bidding around the ring topping at £830 for Messrs J Congdon & Son of Saltash with their 30 bulling heifers averaging £803. Messrs RJ Allin & Sons sold 20 bulling heifers from their “Affaland” herd which sold to £800 and averaged £751.
 
 
Heifer calves sold to £330 for Messrs JD & HM Pengelly & Son of Lifton.
