Stroudmead Dimple sold at 2,600gns
Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt were at Sedgemoor Auction Centre for the Dispersal of the ‘Stroudmead’ herd for RM Winscom Ltd which had travelled down from Petersfield, Hants. 52 different purchasers from Cornwall to Carmarthen to Warwickshire made the most of the opportunity to purchase from this high yielding herd.
The sale topped at 2600gns for the ‘Cover Girl’ ‘Stroudmead Dimple 65th’ Ex90 who had calved to her 4th in December having given over 12,000kgs in her 3rd lactation. She travelled to Carmarthen.
Fresh milk continued to be in strong demand with the July 3rd calver ‘Lillywhite 81st’ GP84 selling for 2200gns as did ‘Sunstream 219th’ GP80 by ‘Garrison’ and ‘Aidel 97th’ VG85 by Bolton.
Calved Heifers topped at 2050gns for ‘Dimple 76th’ the daughter of the Ex top priced cow.
A guest consignment of 6 Calved Heifers from Mr G Lambert’s Saddlers herd averaged £2164.75 and sold to 2300gns for ‘Gladys 119th’ by ‘Askew Reece’ she was out of a 16,000kg dam and giving 32.2kgs.
Incalf Heifers due this Autumn to the Sussex Bull by ‘Picston Shottle’ sold to 1580gns for ‘Lotty 43rd’, this was matched by ‘Viola 123rd’ by ‘Allen’ and due to the Beef Shorthorn.
Last year’s Heifer Calves born July onwards sold to 900gns for ‘Fushia 68th’ also by ‘Allen’.
July born ‘A’ lot Heifer Calf by ‘Net-A-Way Pilot’ sold to 420gns from the ‘Dimple’ family.
The 2 year old Pedigree Shorthorn Bull ‘Meanhill Highland Cavailier’ sold for 2000gns and the Pure Bred Sussex Bull for 1180gns.
