Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report an excellent attendance at the ‘Knightwood Dispersal which produced 69 lots in excess of £2000. The sale was the largest herd dispersal to be held in the South of England this year. 91 different purchasers from Cornwall, to Norfolk, to Yorkshire & a large West Wales contingent made the most of the sale with 34 purchasers buying on both days.

 

Two prices of 2700gns were achieved for the VG86 ‘Castleashby Bradley Tarragon’ a 40kg November calver & ‘Barrick Tarragon’ matched this as a fresh calver to her second.

 

The PI ‘Orchid’ family were in strong demand selling to 2650gns for a ‘Jordan’ 2nd calver going back to Wiseburrow, her heifer calf by ‘Matson’ sold at foot for 510gns. A VG85 2nd Calver ‘Drake Orchid’ also sold for 2650gns.

 

VG86 ‘Milton Iris’ that had calved in November sold for 2600gns, with ‘Bradley Monogram VG85’, ‘Outside Lobelia VG86’ & ‘Affirmed Monogram GP82’ all selling for 2500gns.

 

A Lot Heifer Calves sold to 750gns for the ‘Knightwood Shottle Tich ET’ out of the EX92-3 dam. Other calves by ‘Regancrest-Mr Samuelo’ sold to 550gns.

 

Incalf heifers sold to 2,000gns twice for ‘Castleashby Buckeye Cinnamon 2nd’ due September to ‘Topshot’ and ‘Castleashby Samuelo Mayflower 3rd’ due November to ‘Topshot’.

 

Bulling heifers sold to 1120gns twice for ‘Bolivia Avril’ with an Ex90 2nd dam & ‘Matson Blossom’ from 3 gens of VG.  The 9 month old ‘Knightwood Allen Mayflower 2nd’ from 2 gens of VG sold for 1020gns. 

 

The first day was the largest one day sale of milking cows this year with 420 head sold in just 6 ½ hours.  The second sale started with the sale of the milking equipment with the 32/32 Rapid Exit Parlour selling for £29,000 and the 14,000 litre vertical Milk Silos for £15,000 and £12,250.

A guest consignment of fresh calvers from RM Winscom Ltd’s ‘Stroudmead’ Dispersal that were to freshly calved to make their main sale on the 9th August were in strong demand selling to 2900gns for the freshly calved 2 year old heifer ‘Stroudmead Starlight 107th.’ The 17 Cows & Heifers sold on the day together with 3 Holstein Heifer Calves and 5 Shorthorn Cross calves averaged £2450.
