The Picston Shottle sired second calver Moundsmere Shottle Lily 2nd topped the proceedings at the dispersal sale of the Moundsmere herd of Holstein Friesians at Basingstoke, Hampshire.  Buying the October calver was R A Bown of Hanley Castle, Worcestershire.  She had recorded 9,347kgs as a heifer and 10,277kgs to date with her 2nd calf and was due to calve in November to Schillview Garrett.

 

Her heifer calf by Autumn Ridge Matson was the top price in the heifer calf section.  She was also purchased by R A Bown.

 

The 3rd calver Moundsmere Brad Blossom 2nd sold for 2,700gns to an undisclosed buyer from the South Midlands.  She had calved again in June after giving 11,033kgs as a 2nd calver.  She was a daughter of Carp PYR Basar Brad and recording 48.8kgs daily when sold.

 

The same buyer paid the best price of 2,350gns for a calved heifer.  The Kelstein Dynasty sired Moundsmere Dynasty Jackie was off a 10,374kgs Picston Shottle daughter.

 

W R & A K Evans of Whitland, Carmarthenshire, gave 2,500gns for the freshly calved 2nd calver Moundsmere Garrison Bounty 4th.  She was giving 42.9kgs daily having recorded 9,510kgs as a heifer.  Her sire was Penn England Garrison which also sired another 2nd calver purchased by the same buyer for 2,300gns.  Moundsmere Garrison Bunty 2nd had recorded 10,097kgs as a heifer and was giving 46.1kgs daily when sold.

 

D & O Coombes of Blandford, Dorset, gave 2,350gns for the 2nd calver Moundsmere Bradley Edna 3rd, and D H Creed of Martock, Somerset, paid 2,300gns for the freshly calved heifer Moundsmere Shottle Lilly.

 

Shottle also sired the top priced in-calf heifer, Moundsmere Shottle Sensation 3rd.  She was carrying a sexed Matson calf due next month and was purchased by Carmarthenshire buyers W R & A K Evans.

 

Another member of the Sensation family sired by Shottle led the bulling heifer section at 1,150gns.

 

61 buyers from 18 counties were recorded at the very well attended sale. 

 

Amongst the items sold in the deadstock section were £6,300 for the P reg Case 4230 Tractor, the 7,500 litre Alfa Laval DX tank made £5,000, and cubicles up to £31 each.
