Kilton Alice Red 28, bred in Messrs Baddiley’s good herd in Nottinghamshire was the pick of the draft sale from Ian Wakley’s Walescot herd in Somerset on Monday this week. Out of a VG-87 dam with an Excellent -90 sister she made 2,000 guineas.

The second highest price went to a 9 year old cow Walescot Patron Pansy. Two months fresh she was giving 60kg daily and travels to Hemyock, Devon, purchased by Mr P.J Shere for 1,800gns. At 1,700 a West Midlands buyer snapped up the very smart Kilton K Sunshine 42, bred from 6 generations of VG/EX dams.

Pat Robertson from Gloucestershire acquired a dozen milky cows including Walescot Mayfair Edloma, one of several tidy daughters of Firth Mayfair in the herd, for 1,650gns.

Served heifers due in the New Year made up to 1,000gns and yearlings reached 860gns (x3)
