Due to the recent demand for collective sales, Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt staged a November Collective sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 8th and drew an entry of 270 head.

The day started with South West Breeders collective milk and it was FH Chave & Sons ‘Peacehay’ herd that produced the day’s top priced cow and heifer. ‘Peacehay Margy 14th’ by ‘Regancrest Mr-Drham Sam’ an October calved heifer topped the day at 2180gns and their 2nd calver ‘Peacehay Silver 47th GP82’ by ‘Lucente’ topped the cows at 2050gns.

In all 20 lots sold for in excess of 2,000 to include 7 of the 9 heifers entered by Roland and Simon Bugler with ‘Bettiscombe Samuelo Morna 157th’ topping their entries at 2150gns with entries from RH & SG Miller & Sons, ‘Moorshard’. Messrs AJ Bennett & Sons ‘Lillylane’ and NS & P Puddy ‘Marcroft’ also selling for over 2000gns.  Incalf Heifers from ‘Lilylane’ sold to 1830gns for ‘Lilylane Mascol Betsy 15th’ by ‘Marcel’ and out of a VG dam.

Hoskin & Vickery sold their non-recorded straw yard Holstein herd to 2020gns for the 2006 born ‘Moet Melody’ daughter and 2000gns for the 2007 ‘Ijsselvliedt Breakout’ Cow and 450gns for her September born heifer calf by ‘Lucky Mike’. Their Bulling heifers born August 2010 sold to 740gns on five occasions for daughters of ‘Lucky Mike’.

The ending of his County Council Tenancy dictated the dispersal of the ‘Ardins’ herd for William Rowland.  The herd was founded on some of the best bloodlines in the South West and purchasers made the most of the opportunity.  The second calver ‘Ardins Bess 26th GP82’ by their own ‘Ardins Storm’ sold for 1880gns and the September served heifer ‘Ardins Daffodil 36th’ by ‘Erbacres Damian’ out of 7 generations of VG or Ex Sold for 1520gns and bulling heifers by ‘Regancrest Dolman’ out of the 2nd Dam Ex91-3,’Whitsbury Die-Hard Freda’ sold for 1020gns.
